Research
reveals that 90% of hip fractures are a result of falls, and
most of those falls were preventable. Older adults who fear
falling will reduce their activity level, fostering a sedentary
lifestyle. They will experience a decrease in muscle strength
and ambulatory confidence. The less active they are, the
greater their risk of falling. This increases their fear
of falling and the vicious cycle of fall risk is perpetuated.
The Fall
Prevention Program is a train-the-trainer program for those
working with the frail elderly and others at risk for falls. |
